Patently Ingenious - Framed print

Description:

Make a statement in any room with this framed poster, printed on thick matte paper. The matte black frame that's made from wood from renewable forests adds an extra touch of class.

This genius inspired, Tharb Aworan framed poster recognizes inventor Granville T. Woods, born April 23, 1856, who was the first African American mechanical & electrical engineer to emerge after the Civil War. As an inventor, he held more than 50 patents in the United States, which led to improvements in multiple technologies, most notably the telegraph and telephone. Woods was a self-taught genius. What is not widely known is that Granville won court battles over inventor Thomas Edison who twice, made two unsuccessful attempts to claim ownership to some of Wood's ideas. Given that the race of the inventor affected the price of the invention at that time, Granville sold several of his inventions to large corporations like General Electric. After sale, the inventor would lose all claims to them, receiving no profits and public recognition for conceiving monumental improvements for some of the best inventions of all time.
